Austin Heart
September 06, 2011

CTMC received an important accreditation as a certified chest pain center this week from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) that enhances the hospitals ability to receive and treat patients suffering from chest pain and/or a possible heart attack through a collaborative effort between the hospital, first responders and cardiac specialists. The accreditation is an important step in CTMCs ongoing efforts to expand and enhance its cardiac services. Last years Gala proceeds benefitted the chest pain center.

“Knowing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack can be the key to surviving,” said Clay DeStefano, Executive Director of the CTMC Foundation. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to honor those who have dedicated their lives to cardiac care.”

Three CTMC cardiologists with Austin Heart will be recognized during the annual Stars of Texas Gala. They are Boguslaw Godlewski, MD; Steven Minor, MD; and Faisal Syed, MD. All three physicians are located in Austin Hearts San Marcos office on Wonder World Drive, across from CTMC.

The annual Stars of Texas Gala will be held in San Marcos at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa and Conference Center. Seven-time Grammy award winner Ronnie Milsap will be the featured entertainer performing hit songs such as -Smokey Mountain Rain”, “Stranger in My House” and “Theres no Getting Over Me.” Milsap has 40 #1 hits, more than 35 million records sold, four Academy of Country Music awards and eight Country Music Association awards.

Because of Milsaps popularity, this local, favorite black tie soiree is expected to sell out quickly. This years event will once again feature a gourmet meal and a silent auction with one of a kind items. Individual tickets are $200 a person. Local businesses such as Century Link, McCoys Building Supply, Cavenders Boot City, Grande Communications and San Marcos Vista Partners - Robert and Debbie McDonald, are just a few of the companies joining in the effort to expand cardiac services through generous Stars of Texas Gala sponsorships. Additional sponsorships remain available.
